So many paintings so little time...

I have no less than 11 new paintings under way, very excited about all of them; all landscapes of my neighborhood with the exception of three that will be of the Thompson River, and one of a forest scene inspired by a friend in Nova Scotia. What makes me excited about working on this many pieces at once is there will be a sense of continuity that I will work through each painting that will naturally tie them together. I have been doing a lot of "looking up", looking at the relationship between the trees and the sky, or the trees and the road, the subtle changes in color as the landscape moves upward from the darker undergrowth to the dark green of the evergreens to the spots of light piercing through the branches higher up. I'll be posting progress of these new pieces in the coming months, so stay tuned!
